When we arrived, a staff member named Shreya didn’t greet us properly. She asked for our passports, which I gave, and then told us to sit on the lounge chairs. She handed me an iPad to sign an agreement, which I did. When I returned the iPad to her desk, she asked if I wanted to sit at her desk or on the lounge chair. The interaction was confusing and lacked the warmth and professionalism expected from a hotel of this standard. We were not offered the usual welcome drink or hot towels upon arrival, which made the check‑in even more disappointing. During our stay we faced several problems: • The bathroom flooded because the bathtub had a hole; we had to wait about one hour for someone to fix it. • Our luggage was delayed; we waited about 1 hour and 30 minutes for it to be delivered to our room. Despite calling three times, we didn’t get our suitcases until much later, leaving us without our belongings all night. • I was bitten by mosquitoes all night. We had stayed at an Airbnb in Mauritius before and didn’t have any mosquito issues, so this was especially disappointing at a hotel of your standard. • The food quality was poor; it was unpleasant and overly acidic, making it hard to enjoy our meals. I raised these concerns with the manager, who apologized and offered us a bowl of fruit. I appreciate the apology, but that gesture didn’t compensate for the number of problems we had. We paid for a luxury hotel and expected a comfortable, enjoyable, and professional experience. Instead we got poor service, a flooded bathroom, delayed luggage, mosquito bites, and disappointing food. I don’t think the experience reflects the InterContinental brand standards.
