Hotel Albahia Alicante

“Another wonderful visit.”

The room was excellent, and the hotel gave me a free upgrade—maybe to celebrate my birthday with a card and gift on arrival, or because it was our fifth or sixth consecutive visit. The balcony was a welcome touch, so I’ll likely choose that room again next year. Unfortunately, the pool was only open for a short period during our stay, which was a major disappointment.

The location is excellent, just a short 10‑minute bus ride (two stops) to the city center, and a tram stop that takes you to Benidorm, Altea, the center, and other nearby towns. The hotel needs a refresh and renovation; the room was dirty even though it had been cleaned. The walls were cracked, the bedside tables were dirty, and the night lamps were in poor condition. The bathroom tiles had mold and mildew, and there was no place to hang clothes. The absence of a toilet brush was a big surprise for me and my husband. A general unpleasant damp smell lingered in the room. The air conditioner was very old, yellow, and noisy when turned on, making it impossible to sleep. There was no balcony or view of the rocky wall or the air conditioners. Not having a balcony meant we had nowhere to dry towels or swimsuits. I wouldn’t even book a sea‑view room for that standard. The lack of a fridge was a major drawback, and there was no kettle or iron—basic room equipment was missing. The TV was snowed and constantly showed green bars. The linens were changed but always stained. The worst part was the roaches that lived in the door frames. Breakfast was poor and the selection was small.

The hotel’s location is pretty nice, and the staff are welcoming and professional. Everything else was fine.

The location is great, quiet and outside the city but still reachable by tram. The views over the Mediterranean are lovely. The buffet breakfast offers good value, and the evening set dinner is also enjoyable. There’s a nice outdoor swimming pool as well.
