“The Enchanted place on the Hill”

We celebrated a special occasion at this wonderful spot, where we were welcomed with a complimentary drink upon arrival. The check‑in was professional and engaging, and the room’s layout, space, and atmosphere left us amazed. We enjoyed the spa as much as we wanted, and the two restaurants, Mayflower and Acleaf, offered food that was a step above what we’re used to; a complimentary birthday cake at Acleaf was a nice touch. Zoe, the server, was the best waitress I’ve ever met. Boringdon is a 5‑star hotel known as the Enchanted place on the Hill for a reason, and I hope we can afford to return one day—we’ll definitely miss it. 10/10 The only downside is that it’s so far away from our address 😀

The spa rooms were good, but there was no water in the morning, no lift, and it was over‑priced.

“Unpleasant expensive food in the brasserie and dated decor throughout”

To he honest, we didn't like much. The room was the cheapest so I guess we shouldn't have expected too much but the bed was comfortable. We didn't feel we made very welcome or treated like valued guests apart from the original receptionist when we arrived and one of the waitresses in the restaurant who kindly carried our things up to our room and tried to sort out the TV that appeared to have no instructions showing how to make it work. We wanted to have dinner at 7.30 but were told we could not because they had two big parties so had to be 8pm onwards. having travelled quite far and been to a hospital procedure we wanted to eat earlier so were told if we were back by 7pm from the hospital, we should be able to have a table but no that turned out not to be the case. We sat in the bar and at 7.50 asked for the menus and then at 7.58 asked if we could order but were told we could not because it was before 8pm. Neither of us liked what we eat at all and it was very expensive for what it was. The food was not good and I struggled eating it. I didn't send it back because there was nothing else that I wanted and we were both tired. It seemed strange that when the hotel also has a Michelin starred restaurant that this brasserie would serve up such poor quality and not very nice tasting food. As said, the bedroom was the cheapest so we couldn't expect much but it still was £170 per night so I did expect better. The bed was comfortable but the shower was very difficult to get in and out of and it just did not overall seem good value for money. The whole place seemed very dated and although it was a beautiful historic building the furniture and decor was old looking but not antique who in keeping with the age of the building and it had not style. If you compare it to the Pig hotels, you would know what I mean
