The location, view, staff, building originality, tranquility, and banana plantation are all positives. The lack of kitchen tools, bedding, especially the floor, minimal soap, and the odd smell are negatives.

My boyfriend and I chose to stay at Fazenda dos Sousinha during our week‑long trip to Madeira, and it was undoubtedly the best choice we could make. The apartment is in a very convenient location, close to Funchal and the airport, so getting there after picking up the rental car was very easy. Inside, it’s delightful, with an extremely functional kitchen that we used several evenings to dine comfortably at home. The apartment was very clean and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Parking is super convenient: it’s right under the house. The view from there is simply spectacular. One evening we dined in the apartment and enjoyed a wonderful sunset directly from the window. Not to mention the banana grove behind the house is truly stunning and makes the environment even more characteristic. Finally, I want to thank the owners from the bottom of my heart; they were extremely kind, helpful, and generous with us. They gave us a lot of fruit and vegetables from their garden, including delicious bananas, making us feel truly welcomed and telling us about their banana‑harvesting work. In short, a 10/10 for this apartment, which we highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience Madeira in an authentic atmosphere and enjoy its beautiful local quirks.

The accommodation is ideally situated in a quiet spot, away from the capital’s bustle, in the middle of a banana grove with an amazing view! It’s simple and comfortable with a small terrace. There’s a spot to park a vehicle. The owner is very friendly, welcoming, and speaks French perfectly! He offered us small bananas and passion fruit, a real treat! Thanks for this generous gesture. Joana, the host, is easily reachable. Beware of many mosquitoes due to the humidity in the banana grove.

The house was pleasant, though not outstanding. There was no exterior lighting, no air conditioning, and the space felt extremely hot. From the entrance gate to the door there was no lamp.

It was simple but still somewhat extraordinary: the location, the view, right in the middle of the plantation and the local life. Food nearby, Bus No. 16 close by, and we loved hiking there. We already sent the landlord our suggestions for improvement, and everything could be resolved.
