The room was tidy with plenty of storage and the staff were courteous, yet the water pressure was awful and the shower was broken.

The staff were very friendly and the room was spacious, but we paid for cooked breakfast and only received toast and tea each day; for all three days there was no chef, which was very disappointing.

It carries the charm that many former grander places once had; for those seeking a premier inn, go elsewhere, but if authenticity, peace, and a sense of history appeal to you, you’ll be enthralled. Da di dee da, as Bolan said, Ride a White Swan. For the price, nothing.

The staff were very friendly, the room was a good size, we enjoyed early check‑in and late check‑out, the value for money was excellent, and the bed was comfortable, but the shower had no hot water, which was a bit disappointing, and the early‑morning deliveries to nearby businesses disturbed my sleep, though the hotel couldn’t do anything about that.
