I love the gym and the spot of the hotel, but this was my second‑worst stay ever. The room I got first kept shaking all day, and the front desk claimed “the whole hotel shakes when laundry is in the spin cycle,” a lie that the manager repeated. I told them on day one that the vibration made me nauseous and I couldn’t work, and they said it would only last ten minutes and that they’d tell management—another lie. The shaking kept going the next day. When I called again, they repeated the same excuse, put me on hold while they talked to the manager, and I could hear them gossiping about me on the line, which was unprofessional. At least the manager moved me to a different room after I mentioned hearing the desk attendant’s comments. After the move, the hotel didn’t shake during laundry, which was a relief. I paid over a grand for this stay and felt dismissed by the staff. I’ll never stay here again.

The restaurant/bar offered convenient dinner options that were also good meals, Kendra at the bar was excellent, the front desk staff helped me book another night, and the cleaning staff was friendly and thorough.

The location is close to Duke Hospital, but there’s a $20 per day parking fee—Durham, NC isn’t a luxury destination.

Breakfast was good, but watch out: only two lunches are included for a party of four, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere; there is gluten‑free bread but no dedicated toaster to avoid cross‑contamination, and the staff refused to grill it in a pan in the kitchen, plus we only found three towels in a room meant for four guests.

I need urgent help—after arriving on the 4th of this month they immediately charged my card about $1,148 for the stay and $178 for an extra night from the 11th to the 12th, plus a $20 guarantee; then on the 10th they placed another $1,145 hold (essentially a double charge). I was told it would be refunded and my available balance would be restored, but as of July 14 the transaction is still pending, I’m being ignored, told to wait, and receive no assistance, which is unheard of for a huge chain like Marriott. I need that money back now; I’ve never experienced this with any hotel or country before—normally any hold is removed, especially from a major brand like Marriott.
