The restaurant was surprisingly good, and the staff were generally pleasant. They arranged an early‑morning lunch before 5 am. The reception was problematic: the system was broken, causing long waits at check‑in, and I almost had to pay twice because payment confirmation failed. Their ad‑hoc approach made me feel like nobody cared to fix it. I had arranged shuttle pickup in advance, but when I arrived the staff said the arrangement was meaningless, which was disappointing. I stayed in a twin room; a small cockroach kept appearing, especially around the desk. Rooms 216 and 317.

Everyone at The Sanctuary made my time in Port Moresby a lot better – from trip planning to local events to answering questions, every staff member was professional, friendly, and welcoming. The hotel’s restaurant had a great menu with plenty of food and drinks at a fair price. The pool area was ideal for a relaxing evening, especially with a bar nearby. The gym was small but adequate for a quick workout while traveling. My room arrived clean and tidy, with one of the most comfortable mattresses and bedding I’ve had on many trips. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and had plenty of hot water. A kettle and microwave were also in the room, a handy bonus. The Sanctuary offered free transport to and from POM and to the local Vision City shopping mall, which has plenty of stores and a good selection of restaurants if you want to eat out. Those transport options were key to keeping my stay safe and efficient. I want to thank Gale, Norman, and Jackson for helping me attend the Independence Day flag‑raising ceremony – it would have been hard to know the right timings and procedures without them. Gale also joined me as a courtesy during a later evening visit to the mall, always insisting on helping me find what I needed and carrying my bags. You have an excellent team at The Sanctuary; you should all be extremely proud of your service, personality, and work ethic.

Great value for the money – the food from the restaurant was delicious and well prepared.

The staff were very nice, helpful, and always ready to assist, working efficiently to help whenever needed. We booked four rooms, and unfortunately all of them were infested with cockroaches. Dozens of them roamed the rooms, and in one room the refrigerator was full of small and medium‑sized cockroaches, with many also in the bathroom. It was an extremely unpleasant experience and clearly not an isolated issue affecting just one room. The hotel appears to have a serious infestation problem and should undergo thorough professional pest control before continuing to accommodate guests.
