“Don’t book this hotel”
The location was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable, but the reception staff were awful and the policies were stupid. We couldn’t book in because we didn’t have an OCI card for one person, even though we had passports for six people and visa proofs for five. The hotel wouldn’t let us check in for an hour until someone travelled to our residence, took a picture of the missing OCI card, and then they allowed us to book in. I’ve never seen this in any five‑star hotel in India before. Last year I only had my British driver’s licence and was allowed to book in. The Marriott in Amritsar let us check in without the OCI card. It was really late, my children were hungry and tired, and the staff said they wouldn’t let us in without the OCI card, which would have meant another four‑hour drive back to our village at 9 pm. The staff and the hotel policy were absolutely shocking. Everyone else with a passport and visa wasn’t allowed to go to their rooms either until the sixth person got his OCI card proof. I even argued that the sixth person wouldn’t stay at the hotel but asked that the others could check in so my elderly mum and kids could at least rest. They wouldn’t budge and said they couldn’t allow that. After thirty minutes of dialogue I had to raise my voice and argue, and only then did they let the rest book in. I would never stay here again; the treatment from a Radisson hotel was shocking.
