“Absolutely lovely!”
A charming spot where the common areas were great for hanging out, everything stayed spotless, and the staff were absolutely adorable.
“Not worth the money and not very boutique at all”
The beds were comfy and the hostel sits near Tulum’s center, just a 15‑minute walk to the bus. It isn’t a boutique hostel at all and feels heavily overpriced for what it offers—better to choose a more established place and save money. The pool is nice, the property looks large, and lockers are generous, but overall it isn’t worth the price. The biggest regret was staying here. I wasn’t expecting any local tips; the reception was always empty and they claimed a taco spot was closed when it wasn’t. There was no staff to help. The air‑con only set to 25 °C, so it got swelteringly hot unless you’re right next to it; I asked for 24 °C and they refused, citing environmental reasons, yet they left many lights on all night outside. I requested an empty bottom bunk, but they said it was occupied, and every night the bed was empty for the three nights I stayed. The main bathroom’s sink area and hooks were closed for the weekend, leaving no place to put things; the alternate communal bathroom had a sink that was always wet and dirty. I told the cleaning lady about the wet sink, and she told me to clean it myself. Showers were dirty, cramped, with only one hook, and mosquitoes swarmed inside. There was no proper changing area—just wet showers—so I had to stand in a damp shower to change, which made men stare at me in a towel. This isn’t what you’d expect from a “boutique” hostel. The toilets were poorly cleaned, sometimes covered in pee and poo, and staff did nothing when I complained. Electronic music blasted in the bar all night, so you couldn’t relax in any common space until after 11 pm, even when it was empty. No vibe at all—just a terrible hostel, don’t stay. I shared all this with them and they promised to fix it but did nothing.
Overcharging was unfair, with a direct debit on my Visa card without any notice, and my messages via the host’s messaging system went unanswered—unacceptable. Thanks to the host for crediting the overcharge.
Close to the main sights, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and even in the low season the vibe remained solidly good.
Nice space, good location, but the cleaning was terrible. The shared fridge had a strong odor, the beds in the room were dusty, as if they hadn’t been changed in ages, and the floor was dirty.
