“Eventful, but not the good kind of eventful, and definitely not what I expected for our stay unfortunately!”
The spot was decent but I barely had time to explore the area. From the moment we arrived, everything went downhill: as we pulled up and walked toward the door—remember, it’s just me and two little kids—a loud bang and explosion erupted behind us. The kids ran terrified, and I turned to see smoke everywhere. I grabbed them while the attendant handed me the wrong code, so we couldn’t access our cottage, and the kids covered their ears, shaking. Suddenly police, fire trucks, and people swarmed the area, and someone had apparently dropped dynamite about 40 ft from where we stood. I put the kids in the car and had to leave the vicinity to calm them enough for a brief sleep; I couldn’t sleep either. My son spent the entire stay with his hands over his ears, and I felt awful for him; I’d never seen him so scared. I’m not blaming the owner, but a courtesy call checking on us would have eased the tension. The property was clean but needed work and didn’t match the photos online.
