Ryokan Koyokan

The staff were very hospitable and the meals were fantastic! The vegetarian dinner was meticulously prepared, giving us time to savor each dish. The setting is surrounded by nature, which isn’t exactly convenient for transport, but that might be part of its charm.

“Fantastic and special stay”

We had an amazing stay. The staff were fantastic and the food so delicious, plentiful and varied. We really enjoyed the temple next door and just relaxing in our room which had beautiful views of the pagoda. Would not hesitate to return or recommend, definitely the most memorable stay of our trip. Getting here was fairly easy, it’s around 2000 yen for a private taxi from Yasugi station and then you’ll get picked up in the car park beneath the shrine so you don’t need to carry your bags up through the shrine and up the steps. There’s also a restaurant in that car park if you want to get lunch, otherwise the ryokan provides breakfast and dinner. Nothing

“Fabulous”

The hospitality was fantastic. We were picked up from the station and stayed for two nights. The first night we had amazing vegetarian food, and the second night a fabulous kaiseki banquet, both prepared by the host’s son.

“Charm, peace and tranquility.”

Situated on the grounds of a historic temple, this charming, somewhat remote ryokan offered scenic beauty, peace, tranquility, and excellent food. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with balconies overlooking the beautiful grounds. Staff picked us up promptly at the designated spot and drove us up the steep, winding road. We plan to return on future trips.
