The historic hotel and location were wonderful. The room had great views of harbor and downtown. Jude and all staff at Old Bank House were very nice and accommodating.

The spot was great, and the staff were incredibly helpful. We ran into problems with our room at check‑in: a broken toilet, burnt‑out lightbulbs, and the king‑size mattress turned out to be two twin beds jammed together. The team did their best to fix things, but we had to change rooms twice. The room felt crowded, with seven pieces of furniture plus the 2½ beds. Photos taken on the morning of checkout showed the beds unmade by staff, looking better than when we first arrived.

The location and bed were fine, and the café breakfast was good. The stay was awful: the room didn’t match the photos—photos looked elegant, but the room was a mess. The reception area was awkward, check‑in was clunky, parking was hard, and staff instructions were poor. The room was badly maintained: too hot, only a portable fan, no hand towels, hair on the floor, terrible water pressure, an ancient toilet with a slow‑refilling tank, a faucet that shed black specks, a broken waste can, few luggage spots, and awkward curtains. The fire alarm, barely audible, blew three times in the morning and staff didn’t check the rooms or give clear instructions. This was the worst of eight hotels on our Ireland trip; only the bed was decent. We left after the first night, abandoning the nearly $300 second night, which wasn’t refunded. They offered to move us that morning, but given the poor maintenance and water issues, other rooms would likely be similar. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

A perfect little boutique hotel right in the heart of Kinsale, within walking distance of many restaurants and overlooking the bay. Our room was cozy and clean, and the staff were simply lovely, especially Manager Jude who went above and beyond. The café was gorgeous. We tried a few local spots, but the hotel’s homemade chowder, pastries, and brioche French toast with berries were incredible. We’ll definitely return to Kinsale and stay here again. There is nothing you couldn’t like about this hotel.

The location is central. The staff were unhelpful; it felt like we should have known about the odd floor numbering, and signage would have helped. The receptionist was patronising and opinionated. The pillows were uncomfortable with no alternatives. Still, the location is great and the breakfast was good.
