“The fans do not turn on at all, it was too hot and humid to sleep, they never tried to fix it”
Central location downtown and near the bus station, but it was too hot and humid to sleep because I rented a room with a fan and there was no fan. I knew I was getting an “Economy” hotel, but they were dishonest about what the room offers and it was very uncomfortable because the room was so hot and stuffy. Right away when I checked in I let them know the fan does not turn on at all, and I said if they could even just find me a regular table fan that would be fine, but they did nothing and did not care. I found out that many of the rooms have had fans broken for a while now and they just don’t fix them but continue to advertise the rooms having fans. It’s frustrating because there’s a store (Lojas Americanas) that sells fans a few blocks from the hotel, it’s a problem that could have been fixed in 15 minutes, but it’s obviously a hotel they’re just letting run into the ground and will not put any effort in maintenance or honesty. I asked them if I could cancel the next night and refund but they refused. They never sent anyone to check the fan or make any effort to try to fix it. Another weird thing is there is only one staff member at a time and when they are on break or not at the front desk they lock the door to the hotel so you are locked in until they come back.
