We were given a tour of the beautifully restored building on arrival, with a lovely dining room, a bar area, a TV room, and a quiet library. The lady proudly mentioned that she regularly hosts groups, including a recent group of 10 motorcyclists and a Dutch group. After heading to our room to freshen up, we were suddenly met with a blast of noise as a group of Spanish friends with their children settled in the accommodation, the children being especially loud. When we returned to the dining room that evening, a table for us and another for the entire Spanish group had been set. We didn’t want to share the small space with the noisy group, so we spoke to the on‑duty server who also acknowledged the noise but said “children are children.” We asked if we could have our dinner served in the bar instead, hoping for a quieter meal, but she refused, insisting that the dining hall was the dining hall and that we would have to walk five metres further. She remained firm. The location is very remote, with no other restaurants nearby, so we had to settle for a box of Pringles and nuts from the car for dinner. The next morning we left without breakfast because we no longer wanted to stay. At checkout we met the owner again and complained; she said that if she had been present last night she would have served us in the bar, but we still felt the staff’s problem‑solving was poor. Travelers should be cautious, as this place can be confrontational.

Spotlessly clean, spacious rooms (the Castle is amazing), ideal location, and wonderful staff. Nothing to add. Unbeatable.
