The hosts were very welcoming and the food was delicious; breakfast was extra and we recommend the house‑made specialty mix at the restaurant. The location is good for visiting Berat, though the mattress felt a bit too firm for our taste.

The breakfasts on top of Iljesa’s castle wall are perhaps the highlight of our two‑week trip to Albania; the setting is over‑the‑top beautiful with the sun rising over Mount Tomorrow, and the food is plentiful and fresh—omelette with vegetables and feta, bread, orange cake, local fresh fruits, juices and cappuccino. The staff were friendly and helpful, and exploring the smaller lanes of the castle was fun. The restaurant was great for lunch and dinner as well. The only downside is that it’s a long step walk up and down from the rest of the city, but it turned out to be good exercise.
