The spot is fantastic – quiet, tucked away, and surrounded by loads of birds, which lives up to the “birdbox” name. Dinner was dropped off at the box after the restaurant shut at 5 pm, and both that meal and the breakfast buffet were solid. On the downside, the bathroom is a 150 m trek down into a damp, unventilated cellar; the towels were already a bit wet and the fan in the shower didn’t work, so the whole area smelled musty.

Victor, the manager, went out of his way to make us feel welcome, even though he was swamped, and his attention to detail really paid off. The birdbox itself was spotless, the bed super comfy, and the surrounding scenery was breathtaking – we even tackled the hike to the Tibetan bridge and enjoyed a memorable cable‑car ride.

The place offers stunning mountain views, total peace, and a genuine sense of nature, plus the staff are really friendly. The only quirky part is the trek to the bathroom – it’s an adventure, especially after dark, and can feel a bit inconvenient at night, but it adds to the mountain‑camp feel. Overall, it’s a lovely spot to unwind despite the bathroom hike.

The welcome was warm and professional, and the birdbox sits in a beautiful spot. We could eat at the Curzutt restaurant, which serves dishes made from local produce, and there are affordable family‑friendly options as well. Everything felt well‑organized and pleasant.
