“House with a soul”
We had a great stay; the guest house was carefully decorated, giving a special feel, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. The traditional interior was a highlight, and the place was very clean. Staff were helpful and answered questions quickly. The common kitchen had everything needed, and the bedroom was spacious with AC. It was within walking distance of all major sights, so I highly recommend it. However, the common area downstairs was chilly; we wanted to stay longer but it was too cold, and blankets would have helped. Small bags for toiletries, like those in capsule hotels, would be nice. The bathrooms are shared downstairs, so guests have to carry items up and down each morning and evening. The futons were a bit thin—harder than those in three other cities I stayed in during my Japan trip. The building is older with thin walls, so you can hear other guests a lot; it wasn’t a problem for us, but keep it in mind. Also, there are steep stairs. Overall, a few small complaints, but the stay was very good and I’d recommend it.
