The owners were very friendly, and Joss showed us his garage filled with treasures like old motorcycles and trucks; we loved our night. The house is almost opposite the pretty church and near a square that’s being redeveloped, which will be lovely. La Mothe St Héray is a charming village that feels like home. The castle was destroyed but its beautiful orangery and farm remain. The Sèvre Niortaise runs through the houses, turning a fully renovated mill that is open for visits.
