The Riad itself was stunning and left a lasting impression—truly traditional Moroccan. The hired staff were wonderful, slow but very charming and helpful. The French owner, however, was anything but charming, mostly stayed in her room, smoked cigarettes, yelled at staff, and her dog urinated all over the hotel. She insisted that all spa, food, and drink charges be paid in cash.

The riad is fantastic with very lovely and accommodating staff. The gym is basic, but it’s great that there is one, which is rare for a riad.

The only thing we liked was the location, even though it was surrounded by underground tunnels to get to. One tap didn’t work, the TV was broken, breakfast was very basic, and there was no bottled water, tea, or coffee facilities in the room. We booked expecting a great location and lovely decor, but it was advertised as a five‑star and turned out to be no more than a three‑star. We asked for a private transfer from our starting point to the hotel and back; the price was too high and we only got one way, even though we requested a round trip. I had booked a double room with a four‑poster bed, but the room had two single beds. When I questioned the owner, she was not helpful at all. We left a day early.

The authentic Moroccan décor, the terrace, the spa facilities, and the staff are all wonderful, and there is nothing negative.
