“Disappointing”

I couldn't find anything positive about the property, though some staff were friendly. The hotel looked very dated: rooms had poor, old furniture, beds were not very clean, old and uncomfortable, and the bedding was subpar. The spa facilities were old and heavily used. The price was £169 per night, which felt steep for the experience I got. I wanted to explain this at check‑out, but they never asked if I enjoyed my stay, so I missed that chance.

“Disappointing”

The breakfast was decent and the bathroom was clean. When I booked, the hotel advertised a pool and hot tub included in the price, but when we arrived we had to pay an extra £35 each for 2 hours. I booked for two people, but only one stayed, and I had to pay an additional £29. The room was not very clean: cobwebs on the ceiling, dust on curtains and furniture, a dead crusty wood louse on the side of the carpet indicating it hadn’t been vacuumed, spattered flies on the wall, and the coloured runner over the bed was filthy. The fan in the cupboard was so dirty we had to take the case off and clean it ourselves. The rest of the room was really scruffy and needed a deep clean. My partner and I had taken time out from our family to spend a night alone without our children, and we were very disappointed, especially with the amenities—it was basically false advertising.

The location was convenient for the event we were attending, but we didn’t use the facilities much so I can’t comment on those. We were told the room would have double beds, yet we arrived to find two single beds instead. Breakfast was included, but because we left early they offered us a breakfast to collect; staff even called our room to confirm and told us we could pick it up at reception. When we got there, no one was available. We waited for a while, but no staff appeared, so we left without breakfast. I’ve tried reaching the hotel several times, including sending emails, but have received no response.

“Perfect base for a family gathering nearby”

Some areas seemed a bit tired—our bath had a repaired hole—but we could see work being done to update them. The staff were lovely. The bathroom still needed updating.
