The staff were nice and helpful, and the facilities were safe and clean, but remember that this stay can only be reached via an unpaved road and is outside the city centre, and it can get very cold.

The gated compound feels safe and is conveniently located for hiking, plus it’s one of the most affordable options, so keep expectations modest. The staff were friendly and they fixed a faulty bathroom bulb. Still, a few adjustments are needed: 1) Pricing transparency is lacking; booking a room triggers an extra R240 per day if you stay between 10am and 5pm, a day rate I’ve never encountered and feel unjustified. I was hiking during that window, so it wasn’t a problem and you can still leave your belongings in the room. 2) Wi‑Fi kept dropping, partly due to the area and weather. 3) Only one of three power outlets worked. 4) A kettle and microwave would be welcome additions.
