OYO The Red Lion Hotel

The price was the only good thing. This cheap-looking hotel feels dirty and poorly kept, and the area around it is unsafe after dark. I had to walk to the bus stop at 4 a.m., and a bar next to the hotel was full of drunk people and homeless folks. One drunk man even followed me, shouting at me as I walked away, and I genuinely felt frightened, almost as if I might not get out safely. Don’t trade accommodation for a few dollars if you need to stay in the city centre before an early flight; it’s not worth the stress or risk.

The Pub was tasty and great for nightlife lovers, but the heating didn’t work and the staff quickly fixed it with a heater. The whole place smelled unpleasantly musty, the windows barely closed, and outside noise wasn’t muted at all.

I only stayed 7 hours, and the receptionist was very helpful, even coming up to change my bedding. The whole place is run down, and the bed sheets were filthy.

The bed wasn’t too uncomfortable and the staff were friendly. Walking in through the hallway, a bucket on the floor was catching a leak from the ceiling. The whole place stank of weed, the cups I was given were dirty, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed, and it looked like it hadn’t been redecorated since the 70s. Definitely not worth the money I paid. I was promised a parking space with my booking, but it’s first‑come‑first‑serve, so I couldn’t park one night and had to pay for parking and walk back to the hotel.
