“Awful”

The property was spotless, but we’re furious because we were never told there would be no one on site—just us, two 80‑plus‑year‑olds in an outside room attached to a locked hotel/bar. We felt exposed and would never book again if we’d known. I’m going to that area to visit my brother and wife and usually stay at the Talbot, which is tired and shabby but clean, friendly, and lively. We were extremely upset about what happened. The property is brilliant and immaculate, yet we wouldn’t return because there’s no restaurant, no coffee shop, and no room service. We found it disgusting that we weren’t informed the hotel would be locked up half an hour after arrival; I can’t imagine what would have happened if we’d arrived later.

“Highly recommend”

The rooms were spotless, cozy, and super comfortable, and the bed was incredibly cozy. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and I’d highly recommend the dinner and drinks as well. Everything seemed perfect—no complaints.

I felt the restaurant was a bit overpriced for what was on the menu, and my room was noisy because it’s next to a workshop or something. I left too early for breakfast.

I liked the clean, easy layout and the lovely décor, and the adjoining room was great. The menu was good. Breakfast started a little late.

“Great staff, tastefully decorated rooms and good value for money!”

The staff were wonderful and very friendly! Even though the rooms are small, they made clever use of the space and the décor is tasteful. We dined in the attached restaurant/pub and the food was exceptional! The only downside is that the walls are paper‑thin.
