“Pretty place less than palatable food”

The setting was gorgeous, and the lodge itself looked stunning, but the food was disappointing and the place felt isolated; leaving cost a fortune, and even breakfast fell short. We tried ordering pizza one evening, but the staff seemed annoyed, and it’s clear the menu and chef need a complete overhaul. I left feeling very let down.

“If money is not an issue for you, and like being taken care of this is a great place”

The hotel sits in a lovely rainforest spot close to Lake Petén, where monkeys, hummingbirds, toucans, and amphibians abound; paddle boards and kayaks are offered at the lake; the restaurant serves local dishes with unique ingredients; the hotel is always ready to accommodate any requests or activities, albeit at steep prices. The remote setting gives the owners a chance to charge high rates for activities and transfers; if you don't have a car, you're basically forced to accept their terms because other tour operators can't pick you up from such a secluded spot. We chose to get an external taxi since the hotel’s transfer service was about four times more expensive than arranging our own transport. When we arrived, the staff seemed quite unwelcoming and a bit hostile toward the taxi driver, supposedly for security reasons; while security makes sense, the manner felt more intimidating than reassuring, giving the impression that guests were being pushed toward the hotel’s pricier options. In short, the remote location is a factor to consider, especially if you lack your own transportation, as limited alternatives can make guests feel they have no choice but to use the hotel’s services regardless of cost.

“Relaxing stay on the lake”

The lake spot is perfect for unwinding; the vibe of the hotel is incredibly relaxing; there are plenty of activities available; the staff are extremely friendly and helpful; the rooms feature outdoor patios where you can relax.

The food, the crew, the room, and all the facilities were top; Carlos was a super host; everyone is so friendly and the food is prepared fantastically; perfect to recover after a long trip.
