The location near the lake was convenient, but we had to wait twice for someone to attend us at reception with no success. We got tired of waiting while cameras watched us, so we went for a boat ride on the lake. When we returned, the owner was furious because we hadn’t booked the boat ride. We learned from another guest that he sold them at a much higher price than other boat rentals and for fewer hours of sailing. We’re not on vacation to be scolded like schoolchildren! The rooms were poorly soundproofed; we could hear traffic in the next room separated only by a thin wooden partition.

Nothing good; the owner is a con. The place is a must‑avoid. The breakfast was awful, the showers smelled bad, and the owner was a fraud.

“Memorable overnight at the Pelikan. Good for an out of the way family run hotel”

We appreciated the vintage vibe and historical references, and overall it was a comfortable and enjoyable night. The restaurant was good. But everything seemed to run on a bit of a wing and a prayer. Guests deserve calmer service, and the proprietor must take feedback seriously or his standards will slip. The highlight for us was the memorable experience rather than the quality.
