I’ve stayed here before and it’s a favorite; the setting is lovely, the food is great, the rooms are large, and the swimming pool is superb. Nothing to complain about.

The bedroom was spacious, the grounds were stunning, and there were a swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi. It would have been nice to have a small fridge or a way to chill drinks.

The hotel’s setting and main common areas are top‑class, housed in a prominent old castle, but the management is disastrous: the room carpets are dirty, the dining room and rooms have awful neon lighting, and the restaurant meals are expensive and mediocre.

Most of the staff were very friendly. The room was large and clean, though our shower leaked so we used extra towel mats. The location was perfect, the visual appearance was very good, there was ample parking, and they were very accommodating to our four‑legged friend. The cleaning staff were very helpful when we met them. There were plenty of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate refills. I never liked the milk methods in hotels, so I always bring a pint. The breakfast had good food choices but poor presentation; I never had a hot breakfast, and warmed food always cooled before it reached my palate. I think they should drop the food allowance procedure as it gives the wrong impression. The room rate with bed and breakfast should be just that; I focused on the toast, so you can’t go wrong there.

Location and food. Info from staff wasn't correct re towels for swimming. Having said we wanted a dessert, no one came back to take our order. We ended up just leaving. Barman shouting across the room that I hadn't given card info at desk. I shouted back that I had. He went off to check then shouted from bar that I had. At no point did he quietly approach me to sort out apparent issue . It could have been very embarrassing
