Nestled in Houlgate’s historic center, Hostellerie Normande sits 200 m from a sandy beach and 220 m from the casino. Traditional Norman décor graces each room, which features free Wi‑Fi and private baths. Guests enjoy a daily continental breakfast in a flower‑laden garden, a local cuisine restaurant, sauna, bike rentals, and easy access to the train station, Cabourg, and A13.

The hotel feels like a small, well‑located spot; the host is extremely friendly, available, and warm, adding the charm of the place by himself, and you feel instantly welcome. The restaurant is also a real highlight and worth trying even if you’re not staying there; it’s a place I’ll gladly return to. For a single night, the room was great, but for a longer stay a slightly larger "comfort" category might be better; also note there’s no air‑conditioning and a minor flushing issue, though the host handled it; it’s a lovely address I’ll visit again.

I stayed in a superb room that was very comfortable and spotless. The only hiccup was the shade sails in the patio at the back; they blew away in the strong wind and caused a lot of noise during the night.
