“Good Food and Helpful Staff, but Disappointing Overall Experience”
The room was clean and featured local textiles that added a touch of character, and the restaurant food was fresh and tasty; the reception staff and restaurant gentlemen were friendly and helpful, especially when they coordinated with the safari organizer to clarify arrangements, and Ajay at the restaurant was especially helpful with ordering and conversation. We also liked having shampoo, liquid body wash, and lotion provided. However, the price did not match the hotel’s quality, the bathroom sink and shower drains needed deeper cleaning, and the shower faucet fell off the first time we used it. Stains appeared on the bed cover, the fan produced a high‑pitched noise, and the balcony was in direct sunlight most of the day, making it too hot to sit outside; the room also had very little local character. We were not informed beforehand that the restaurant served only vegetarian food, nor that cellphones were prohibited for photography on the tiger safaris and that a separate camera was required; neither the hotel nor our safari contact communicated this before the trip. We would have preferred more eco‑friendly amenities, such as refillable bottles for the shampoo, body wash, and lotion, instead of individual containers. Most importantly, we never quite felt comfortable; although individual staff members were kind and helpful, the overall atmosphere felt subdued and lacked warmth and positive energy. On one of our two evenings, local musicians performed at the hotel; we were the only guests sitting and watching. The musicians started with energy and enthusiasm, but this quickly faded, mirroring the overall mood of the hotel. Something about the experience felt off, and the hotel seemed rather sad rather than lively and welcoming.
