Complejo Rural Huerta Grande, an eco-resort on the edge of Los Alcornocales Nature Reserve, offers an outdoor pool, bar, and free Wi-Fi. Wooden bungalows and country villas with kitchenettes and spacious living areas are available. The resort organizes hiking, climbing, and kite surfing activities, and is close to Algeciras, Tarifa, and scenic countryside with forests, waterfalls, and streams.

Outside lights only came on in the middle of the night and turned off early in the morning, making nighttime walking risky; additionally, the whole site isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Overall, the accommodation was good, food great, and it’s close to everything, but the bed was awful—after four nights I had body aches, the mattress was thin, sagging like a board, and overall terrible.

The stay was fantastic for our birding trip; the location was amazing, the staff handled every request, and the pool looked gorgeous – we’ll definitely recommend it to friends and plan to return.
