Hotel Terme Salvarola

We were pleasantly surprised; the price‑for‑money was top. Great partnership with the nearby spa. We had two bathrooms, which was absolutely wonderful! The room was spacious and very quiet at night. The spa is a bit old‑fashioned but is being renovated. The hotel restaurant is closed, but that will probably change.

The only thing worth mentioning is the location of the buildings and their beautiful natural surroundings; that’s all, not the hotel or the area presented as a wellness centre. The property, which is presented as a hotel, gave the impression that no serious investment had been made in it for the past 20 or 30 years. The rooms are old and neglected, the furniture is worn out, and the mattresses are uncomfortable. The description mentions antique furniture with modern touches and a marble bathroom. In reality, the bathroom has a marble countertop with washbasins, while the shower tray is plastic, with jets that do not work and visible mould. Breakfast was very limited and served at tables without tablecloths, with rattan chairs that looked like outdoor furniture. There was no music in the hotel, and the atmosphere was unpleasant and lifeless. What is presented as a wellness and spa centre felt more like an old, neglected rehabilitation facility. Overall, nothing about the hotel lived up to its description or my expectations.

Very dated, clearly in need of renovation, the rooms shown online do not match reality, they are extremely dark, gloomy and dirty, with grimy windows, dirty walls and stains.

The place was clean, especially thanks to one of the two young staff members who was super cute, the area was quiet, and the rooms weren’t too small. The lady who runs the breakfast alone is very friendly and deserves a shout‑out. The topping was also a big plus. On the downside, the hotel really needs a major overhaul. The dog fee is 15€ and they don’t even put a bowl in the room—shameful. There’s a lovely field across the street, but you have to use binoculars to see it because the garden isn’t well maintained and the trees aren’t trimmed often. Breakfast is nice but not lavish; in a 4* hotel in the Modena province I expected non‑supermarket cured meats that aren’t terrible, like some parmesan shavings. The salty side was disappointing. The thermal baths looked different from the pictures; they were almost non‑functional, overcrowded, and not very clean.
