“Ok for price but cheap n tacky”

The place sits in a solid spot, but there's no coffee and it feels like a basic hostel.

The location was brilliant, and free first‑come, first‑served parking was right outside the front. The beach was a very short walk, and the same road had plenty of shops and restaurants. The mattress was very comfy. The building looked like it was about to undergo major renovation, the bedrooms were dated, and the general entrance was poor, so it shouldn't have been open for guests. Still, for the price I paid and knowing it was a great north‑run weekend, I could see why I chose it and was glad because most places were booked out or had crazy prices.

“Like faulty towers”

The pillows and location were great after finishing the great north run. The room didn’t lock without banging it closed, the carpet was moldy, the wall was bloody, the mattress was filthy, there were holes in the walls, dirty cups and spoons, I had to boil the kettle on the floor, there was no hot water, and everything was dirty. If I wasn’t racing the next day I would have driven home! No response from the property when I complained the next morning.

“Fawlty Towers on South Tyneside.”

The price was “fair” until I saw the facilities; the position was perfect. The one staff member I met was willing but ineffective. The shower was a joke—no pressure, hot, cold, lukewarm, pressure, no pressure. Simply unacceptable. The TV antenna cable wasn’t connected, and the staff tried unsuccessfully to reconnect it. NEVER AGAIN. I should have paid an extra £10 per night at the neighbouring Clifton Hotel.

The lady who helped me on the phone was super helpful. Even staying on the phone until I had gained entrance. Mattress was to big for the bed. And blind in the room you couldn't pull down. So sunlight beamed in early
