Harry and Joanne are stunning owners and hosts—caring, knowledgeable about Rodriguez, and helpful. The location is amazing, with the beach just across the road. Rent a car; public transport, especially to and from the airport, is unreliable and often nonexistent depending on the day and time of arrival.

The place is truly beautiful, promising a soul‑soothing rest, and La Plage Résidence lives up to that. The view stretches over a lagoon with endless shades of blue, the bed invites peaceful nights, the welcome is exceptionally kind, and Port Mathurin is close enough to explore Rodrigues’ treasures with ease. The only downside is that the walls seem unable to hold back voices, music, or everyday noise; the silence that one hopes for when seeking rest slips away before even stepping into the room. Over five nights, even with earplugs, sleep proved elusive—a huge disappointment. The location almost had everything to become a true sanctuary; it just needed walls that could keep the quiet. When a place is so beautiful, offers such a calming view, and provides such comfortable bedding, the nights should match its splendor.

The breakfast was good and pleasant, the view was beautiful, Johanna and Harry were welcoming hosts ready to help with any request, and the food was very good. The only issue was the noise.
