Rooms offer air‑conditioning, private bathrooms with walk‑in showers, river views, and carpeted floors; ground‑floor units feature private entrances.

Botel Elodie is a fantastic option for visiting Amsterdam if you want something a little bit different and a true waterway experience. The owner, Chango, is a friendly host who’s great to chat with and very helpful with any information you might need. The cabins are compact, as you’d expect on a barge, but cosy, and the en‑suites have great showers. The beds are also comfortable. The location is excellent, a short walk from the main tourist area, Centraal station, and close to the Nemo Science museum. It would be nice to have breakfast as an option, but it’s understandable that it isn’t offered and we were happy to go out and get it instead.

Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen. Der Besitzer war super hilfsbereit und hat uns sehr gute Tipps für den Aufenthalt gegeben. Wir kommen wieder!

Zentraler geht es in Amsterdam nicht, außer, man wohnt im Haupfbahnhof. Die Elodie wäre aber auch an jedem anderen Platz eine Reise wert. Und trotz der Lage mitten in der Stadt ist es leiser als in den Hotels an den Grachten, da keine Massen von Touristen sich auf der Straße davor drängen. Captain Chango ist ein Gastgeber, wie man ihn heute leider nicht mehr allzu oft findet. Jemand, der immer für die Gäste da ist, aber niemals aufdringlich. Ob Restaurantempfehlung oder der Plausch am Abend an Deck, die Betreuung ist hervorragend. Ja, die Kabinen sind kompakt, aber bestens ausgestattet und blitzsauber. Und Amsterdam lädt ja ohnehin nicht dazu ein, die Tage in der Unterkunft zu verbringen. Alles in allem ein Ort, an dem man gerne länger geblieben wäre und auf jeden Fall wiederkommt. Eigentlich nichts, aber ein Schiff ist hellhörig mit seinen dünnen Stahlwänden, -böden und -decken. Wenn dann Gäste zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten die Nachtruhe einleiten, geht das nicht völlig lautlos.
