“Great place, but was far from town.”
The staff were friendly and accommodating, understood a bit of English, and with Google Translate everything went smoothly; the facilities were well kept and very clean. They offered a small selection of snacks and pre‑packaged food for those who get hungry, and there’s a simple menu of dishes cooked in the hotel kitchen that’s worth trying if you miss a meal in town. A shared kitchen is available for everyone. Separate showers are offered if you prefer not to use the onsen, which was also nice. The distance to central Fukushima is significant; the village is tiny and reaching town takes about 45 minutes by bus, costing roughly 980 yen per trip. The hotel provides a shuttle once a day at 10 am to the station, which is convenient. Bus schedules vary by day and may start or end earlier than expected, so missing one can mean a taxi ride of about 7 k yen. If you plan to stay in Fukushima, it’s fine, but if you want to visit other nearby towns with castles, consider staying elsewhere for a day or two. The travel times make it hard to return before the 10 pm curfew when the doors lock.
