Hótel Lækur, located on an Icelandic horse farm between the Golden Circle and south coast, is a family-owned hotel in Hella, a 10-minute drive away. The hotel features modern rooms with wooden floors, private bathrooms, and some with terraces or balconies offering views of Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. It has a sun terrace, guest lounge, and à la carte summer restaurant, with Northern Lights views possible during winter stays.

Great location and beautiful rooms that are lovingly furnished and equipped; the whole complex is nicely designed. They turned on the sauna and hot tub for us so we could use them right after arriving in the cold autumn.

A lovely property, ideal for a family of five. After showering the bathroom floor stayed soaked and there was no way to dry it.

In the middle of nature, next to a river, the rooms open directly onto the street—an old farm turned hotel concept. The front‑desk staff gave us no directions and didn’t tell us about the Aurora service the hotel offers; customer service was very bad and the furniture was old.

We loved the beautiful setting and remote location; the food was delicious and the overall vibe was cozy. Everything was simple but comfortable, exactly what we needed—plus we saw the Aurora twice just by stepping outside our room. It felt pricey, and the hotel dinners were also expensive, but that’s just how costly Iceland is in general.
