The stay was fabulous, but the room was too hot.

Our room offered lovely views, with 1920s music playing in the background, and the coffee was nice; a young Polish lady served us coffee and breakfast with a smile, and the grounds were fabulous. The VAT added to the bill was a downside.

We received a very warm welcome and the staff were attentive throughout our stay; the public areas were immaculate and extensive, the room was beautiful, the gardens were amazing, and overall it was fabulous. However, it was a little hard to find the one‑way system entrance on satnav, and some of the dinner main courses had odd ingredient combinations—lentils, artichoke, and duck.

The dinner was absolutely excellent, and breakfast was great too; I really enjoyed the audio tour and walking around the gardens. We saw the formal dining room set for a wedding dinner, and it was gorgeous—what a beautiful place to stay! A couple of folding luggage stands would have been helpful; we only stayed one night so we didn’t want to unpack, but it was awkward having our suitcases on the floor. More convenient electrical outlets would have been appreciated; I had to crawl under the desk on my hands and knees to plug in my phone charger. Could you please put some towel bars in the bathroom, and a chair, too? There were only two hooks for all of the towels, our pajamas, our clothes as we changed, etc., which was quite inconvenient. Also, my 82‑year‑old cousin didn’t like us being referred to as “you guys” by our server at dinner; that’s not what we expect at a fine restaurant. These are all small annoyances, but fixing them would make a big difference.
