Takigawa Ryokan, located 10 minutes from JR Kyoto Train Station, offers traditional Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring and futon bedding. Shared bathroom facilities and public baths are available. Guests can borrow kimono robes and rent bicycles. The ryokan is close to Higashi-Honganji Temple, Kyoto Tower, and Takashimaya Department Store, offering easy access to Kyoto's historical sites.

The staff were attentive, but there was one missing chair.

The bath was great, they kept my luggage, the staff were friendly, and I even met a dog! No complaints at all.

We chose a long weekend and the price stayed reasonable, unlike other places that went crazy. The room had a little courtyard and you could see the view from the window. It’s rare to find a place that lets you bring a dog. One night we were back very late, so we left the dog at a daytime boarding, expecting a 10 pm pick‑up, but we couldn’t make it, so the hotel took care of it and even walked the pup for us. The only downside was that from 9 am to the afternoon the public bath was unusable, which was a bit inconvenient. Because it’s an old building, the sound insulation between floors and walls isn’t great.
