Situated only 400 metres from the historic centre of Siena, Hotel Palazzo di Valli is a gorgeous 18th century villa beautifully decorated and smartly furnished in traditional Tuscan style. The hotel is situated on a hill, surrounded by an 18-acre garden with olive trees. The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the centre of town.

The hotel sits right near the main entrance of the historic center, and everything feels very clean and nice. The reception, especially Mr Giacomo, was exceptionally welcoming and attentive, and the breakfast was delicious. The only downside was that dogs were present inside the breakfast area.

The view over the Tuscan countryside and Siena is stunning, and parking is directly in front of the building. A bus stop (Bus No 51) is just outside the gate, and tickets can be bought on the bus with a credit card, but walking to Siena takes about 30‑40 minutes. The breakfast is hearty with good coffee, and the superior room we stayed in was spacious with comfortable beds. However, the entrance through the main gate is too narrow for larger cars, the garden looks somewhat untidy, and the overall feel of the building is that of a large, old, simple, and rather noisy house on the outskirts of town with a garden. The price feels too high for the ambience, and it seems you’re also paying for the view and proximity to Siena.

The room was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the highlight was definitely the breakfast, which we adored!

The setting is superb, Giacomo and Lorenzo give great advice, and the hotel is very beautiful.
