The staff were very friendly and the setting between rice paddies and a river was lovely, and the food was good. The bungalow’s décor, however, felt a bit too busy and too western for my taste.

Stepping onto the River Island property feels like stepping into another world. The grounds are huge and it feels like you're in a fairy tale with beautiful plants everywhere, stone bridges, Balinese statues, and a scenic river that runs through the property. The owner is also incredibly friendly and treated us like family. Overall, we had such a wonderful time staying here and will definitely be back the next time we're in the Sidemen area. Not the fault of the hotel, but the road leading to the property is pretty bad. There also aren't many places to eat in the area. They do have food on-site, but it is fairly expensive. You can order food on Grab or Gojek though if necessary, and there are 2-3 places not too far away (which vary a lot in price). My wife also didn't like the outdoor bathroom because there were a lot of ants. Of course, that's to be expected of an outdoor bathroom though

The accommodation was beautiful and the place was very quiet. Nothing to complain about, just remember to bring a scooter to get around.

What I loved most was the owners’ hospitality; they fulfilled every request and more, making River Island Resort feel like home. Breakfast was delicious, the space was huge, and even when crowded you still felt private. I love this place ❤️
