We hauled our luggage up the historic staircase to the attic, ending up in a dim room with a small dormer window and no air‑conditioning, only a fan that might have sufficed in summer; the window was open at night, giving us a view of the parking lot surrounded by trees that actually belong to a street between the lot and the hotel, so we heard street and conversation noise at night. The bathroom was decent, but we regretted the room and had stayed elsewhere for a lower price; the overall rating was based on the breakfast and friendly staff. The bike rental is on the opposite bank in Lieser; as guests we felt only somewhat welcome.

This isn’t our first visit and it was again very good; the dinner in the restaurant was almost a star‑worthy, freshly prepared and very tasty. Everything else was fine, but we missed an electric‑car charging point and had to drive half an hour for one; maybe a suggestion for a dual charger?

We were welcomed at check‑in with a glass of bubbles to enjoy in the garden, and the sauna was also excellent.
