Located in Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet district, Family Istanbul Hotel is 300 meters from the iconic Blue Mosque. We booked a double room, but when it was handed over we were a bit disappointed because it was too small; I immediately asked if a change was possible, and Ghokan found a great solution for the following nights. I really appreciated his availability, and the other guys were also kind—an excellent team at the family hotel! The room’s cleanliness needs a little improvement, but otherwise everything was fine.

The spot is spot on and the staff were super friendly, plus the breakfast was pretty good.

The location next to the Blue Mosque and other sights is convenient, and the staff were kind and smiling. At check‑in we had to wait a while at reception because no one was there, and the same happened at check‑out. Cleanliness was terrible: pillows were stained, the bed sheet was shredded by previous guests’ sweat, the bathroom had a foul smell, and on the bed there was only a thin sheet with no pillowcase or blanket. The hotel looked like a ruin, the toilet paper holder barely held the paper and I had to re‑fix it to the wall every day, there were plaster patches on the walls, a window that struggled to close, and the air‑conditioning made noise. In short, it was a nightmare; the price alone doesn’t make the hotel good or pleasant, and when guests leave comments they should be taken seriously.

The place is great and you can walk to the main sights of Istanbul. The staff were very helpful with everything we asked for and even offered to keep our stuff after check‑out. The value for money was solid. Some towels had stains and weren’t completely clean. Breakfast was okay but quite limited.
