“Lovely bed and breakfast in Competa.”
I was heading to Spain for a wedding and to visit family, and the B&B in Competa and Al Campanario was less than a minute's walk from the church! I stayed for 5 nights, and the place was right next to the main square with restaurants and a few shops. The house had been beautifully renovated while keeping its character – original tiles, for example. Breakfast was lovely: fresh fruit, yoghurt, local bread, cheeses, meats, and scrambled eggs every morning, plus unlimited coffee. There was an honesty bar in the breakfast room where you could buy wine or soft drinks. My room was split into two parts: a living area with a shower and toilet, and a bedroom. The owner, his family, and the host were welcoming, kept the rooms clean, and checked that I and other guests were fine. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Competa. On the downside, every guest room had a TV that only worked with Netflix (I don’t have an account). The stairs were steep – good exercise, but a consideration if you have mobility issues. The door to my room only had one original key (the house is 250 years old). Since I was traveling solo, the toilet in this two‑room area didn’t have a door – just a semi‑height wall on one side – so I’d advise guests to discuss the layout for the shower/toilet with the owners before booking.
