The pool area was dirty and not very inviting, and it felt cramped. In a place like Cairns, the pool is essential, so that was a let‑down. The rooms weren’t sound‑proof; being on the first floor, we could hear a lot of noise from nearby rooms. The view was awful—just a carpark. The bathroom was extremely tight; I could barely close the door when trying to reach the toilet, and if I were significantly heavier, I probably wouldn’t fit.

“We had a comfortable stay and staff were friendly”

The location was great, especially for families, with less than a five‑minute walk to the aquarium, esplanade, plenty of food spots, and a fantastic playground. The desk staff were friendly when approached, and the reception area was lovely and bright. Housekeeping was very smiley and welcoming whenever we ran into them. It was nice to have a coffee machine in the room, especially with kids who start early. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned well before check‑in—there were a lot of hairs in the shower and on the floor. The kids’ TV didn’t work at check‑in, but maintenance fixed it on day two after we asked. My biggest disappointment was the lack of a toaster in the family room; I booked knowing our kids would be up at 4‑5 am (time difference) wanting breakfast. I wish I’d read reviews because this is a common complaint that’s been around for over two years.
