Theatre Royal Hotel, Kumara, is a restored miners' hotel on the south island's west coast. The hotel features themed rooms with antique furnishings, cable TV, and free WiFi. The hotel was beautifully presented, clean, warm, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, making everything easy. It’s close to Hokitika, has bike tracks with plenty of parking, and the meal at the hotel was delicious; the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing could be said that would make you dislike this 150‑year‑old restored hotel.

The staff were lovely, the accommodation was warm and comfortable, and the hotel food was great!. We were surprised to be staying in a house across the road with shared communal areas and two other couples we didn't know. It was fine, but it would have been good to know beforehand

It felt like staying in a museum! Walking into the West Coast history, we were upgraded to the Old Bank Suites, and it was our lucky day. The accommodation was so comfortable and luxurious. The staff were amazing and friendly, and communication was good. I tried to do my laundry at the customer washing machine, but it was unavailable that day. I booked dinner at the restaurant for Wednesday and it was very nice. There was no bottle opener and no towel rail in the bathroom.
