Hotel Balsthal is situated in Balsthal village, 3 km from the A1 motorway. The hotel comprises four adjacent buildings, offering a breakfast buffet and free parking. Rooms are bright, comfortably furnished, with cable TV and private bathrooms. The restaurant serves Swiss and international cuisine. Nearby trails offer biking and hiking opportunities, with a bus stop 50 metres and train station 350 metres away.

The place was clean, there were free parking spots, and the breakfast was very good. The lock on the room door was a bit stubborn, and the fridge outside the room was empty, so I couldn’t grab drinks. With a few tweaks it’s still good.

The breakfast and rooms were great, the dinner was also very good, though the evening menu was generally expensive; the Chef de Service even escorted us to our room, something we hadn't expected.

Breakfast and the selection were good, and we could dine in the adjacent restaurant in the evenings, but the rooms turned out to be a bit noisy.

Very clean and quiet, with excellent beds, a nice bathroom, and a good breakfast; a bit pricey, but that's Switzerland, and the restaurant didn't meet expectations and was expensive.
