We were welcomed with great warmth by Leo and his family, who did everything possible to make us feel at home. The frog tour in their own garden was genuinely fun, teaching us about various Costa Rican frogs and how to photograph them well, plus they gave us plenty of tips for nearby excursions. The pool looked nice and was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made each morning, and included good coffee and juice. The apartment was comfortable; the beds slept well, the kitchen was complete, and the shower was good. The location was nice too—just a short drive to the center, and with a rental car you’re everywhere quickly; you could also take an Uber to the center for restaurants or bars. Overall, one of our best stays in Costa Rica! The outdoor terraces could use a bit more ambient lighting and an update to the furniture, but they were busy fixing and maintaining things during our stay, so that will be sorted out soon 😊

“Exceptional service make this a standout place to stay!”

The staff were phenomenal and truly made our visit stand out. Someone was on-site to help us check in and orient us to the property, and they clearly explained that English-speaking staff wouldn’t be available due to national independence day. There was always someone on site to answer questions. The night walk and follow-up experiences with Leo were also highlights. The property offers free night walks in their on-site garden to spot frogs and other wildlife, and Leo is knowledgeable, friendly, and great at helping capture pictures. After our night walk with him, he went out of his way to point out other frogs he spotted in the garden and kept educating us about local fauna. We only used the on-site pool once, but it was well-maintained and a nice feature. The setup of the property is great! Each guest gets their own guest house with covered parking. While the interior is small, the space is well utilized. Note that the king beds aren’t enclosed in rooms except for one; the others are in various open‑concept rooms. We appreciated that the kitchen is fully equipped in the guest house for those who want to cook. The indoor and outdoor spaces are clean and meticulously maintained, showing the staff’s care for providing great spaces to their guests. Nothing to add.

“Everything we needed and then some at a great price!”

It was an amazing stay for the price we paid! The owner and his wife were so accommodating, and the staff even came by to let us know when the volcano was no longer in the clouds so we could see it! Plus we got a complimentary tour of the garden to see frogs and we saw all the frogs! Also every morning there were monkeys and toucans in the trees and the owner would set up a telescope for guests to view them up close! The only issue at all was the wifi was a little sporadic at times, but hey, we’re out in the middle of the jungle so … manageable expectations helped!

“One of the best Stays we've ever had”

Leonardo, the manager, is one of the kindest people we've ever met. He went above and beyond to make everything possible that we asked for or wished for. Whether it was letting us leave our luggage at the reception early or arranging an early check-in, he was always incredibly helpful and accommodating. He also gave us great tips on when and where to go, which helped us make the most of our stay. His frog night walk is truly one of a kind. We saw many different species, and Leonardo told us so much about all the animals we encountered—not just the frogs. It was a fantastic experience. The breakfast was always delicious. You can choose between a typical Costa Rican breakfast and pancakes, and everything was freshly prepared to order. Leonardo also made an effort to vary the fruits served alongside, which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious, clean, and very well equipped. Everything worked perfectly, and housekeeping was always available when needed. The pool was also nice and clean. When we had a medical emergency during our stay, Leonardo went far beyond what we could have expected. He offered us his help, support, and complete flexibility and made a difficult situation much easier for us. Overall, we can hardly imagine having had a better stay in La Fortuna. Leonardo's kindness, hospitality, and willingness to help truly made our stay special. We would absolutely recommend this place and would be happy to come back!. Nothing
