The value for money was solid, but the room was poorly insulated and on Saturday the bar below played loud music that was hard to ignore.

The room was bright and airy, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The area has good transport links, with shops and restaurants nearby, creating a very pleasant atmosphere

The room size was good for the price, the staff were welcoming and informative, and the regulars were helpful when asked for directions. The shared bathrooms were decent. However, the building needs refurbishment; there is a lot of damage such as damp, the associated smell, stained carpets, etc. The sellotape woodlouse catcher on the hallway wall is an ingenious thing…!

The room space, private bathroom, cleanliness, and bed comfort were all excellent.

On the positive side, the rooms are next to the bar and not on the bar’s first floor, so there is no noise at night. The value for money is more than good. Finding a room that big and clean at this price near Edinburgh is rare. The only downside is that a gutter on the building’s façade would help, because right now when it rains it looks like a devil’s mess.
