The room was comfortable and tidy, and it even had a nice terrace overlooking the sanctuary; the hotel feels old‑school but simple, and the restaurant serves local food at reasonable prices.

The building sits at the foot of the Gran Sasso, a beautiful spot, yet in my friends’ room the TV didn’t work, the bed creaked, and the two mattresses were stuck together making a hole in the middle; in my room the plastic mattress protector was annoying.
