We are an Israeli couple staying for our honeymoon on Shabbat to be close to the Chabad house; the hotel was amazing, the room was luxurious with a stunning view, clean, the pool was nice, there was a cozy bar and a sauna, and they decorated the room beautifully for the honeymoon, but the Shabbat observance was inconvenient—they placed us on the lower floor, which was great, but when we talked about Shabbat, the front desk guy said they’d help us with the elevator and room entry, but then forbade us from using the stairs because they were “emergency only,” even though they were fine and usable—so what did we do? After we went up, how do we go down? The next day, after visiting the Chabad house, other hotel staff who had taken us in the elevator didn’t exit the elevator to open the door even though we’d asked beforehand, and there were other tech gadgets like a closet light that opens and closes automatically, and a “do not clean” button in the room is just a push‑button—if you want to pamper yourself, we recommend it, but not on Shabbat.
