Check‑in was easy and the room was a good size, but the bathroom shower screen was flimsy and let a lot of water spill onto the floor; the shower water was cold, and the room itself felt very cold.

The location is perfect for exploring York, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, making the setting pleasant.

“Bedrooms need to be updated.”

The main areas—reception and dining room—were acceptable and up to date, but our bathroom had mould around the bath and a damaged ceiling; it desperately needed modernization and was shabby. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and every time my husband moved I could feel it. The wall light switches were dirty with fingerprints from other guests, and the net curtain didn’t cover the entire window.

“Good location but no reason to stay unless you’re booked into a conference. Not really a couple destination.”

The hotel sits on the outskirts of the city with good transport links, but the newer section feels a bit dated and the facilities are only up to the expected standard for a 4‑star. I got better value the night before at the Premier Inn.

“Beautiful beautiful beautiful”

I booked the hotel as part of my birthday weekend with my wife.When we 1st arrived,we couldn't believe how beautiful the hotel looked.The young lady at the desk was really friendly and made us feel really welcome.My big surprise was when we opened our room door to find bottles of beer in an ice bucket along with a very heart warming birthday card and gift from all the staff at the hotel plus all my helium balloons.Your staff went above and beyond their duties to make our weekend as special as it could be.Your staff are an absolute credit to the company. We will definitely be back after the new year. Thank you all once again. Graeme and Jo 👍💝👍. Cannot fault the hotel or staff at all
